With Joyful Hearts is an original Holiday composition that was written for the 2014 St. Olaf Christmas Festival and broadcast nationally on NPR. This exciting, energetic work is in 9/8 time and several ff statements of the first line of Joy to the World burst out in surprising fashion. In the central part of the piece, there is delightful moment where each main section of the orchestra is highlighted playing the main theme, including a feature especially for percussion instruments. Consider programming this as a festive concert opener.
