An original composition for holiday concerts, Shepherds' Jubilee is a dance that depicts the shepherds' jubilation after seeing the Christ Child. It hints at Middle Eastern sonorities and features piping tunes and a beautifully contemplative middle section. It was first performed for the 2005 St. Olaf Christmas Festival and is ideal for any December Holiday program. Following its premiere, Shepherds' Jubilee was broadcast over 190 NPR affiliate stations throughout the United States. In 2010 Amundson revised and slightly shortened the work. Either version is available for performance, and recordings of both versions can be heard by clicking on one of the two "listen" buttons above.
