Composed in 2017 for the St. Olaf Christmas Festival, On Christmas Day was subsequently broadcast on National Public Radio. The title comes from the familiar Christmas Carol, “I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In On Christmas Day,” which is hinted at and finally quoted in solo woodwinds and later in the full orchestra. Filled with memorable tunes , vivid colors and remarkable energy, the composer thinks On Christmas Day is his best yet!
