St. Olaf Handbells and Orchestra

Composed for the 2007 St. Olaf Christmas Festival, Glories Ring is written for symphony orchestra featuring a 5-octave handbell choir. (It is also available for a 4-octave bell choir). The exuberant work is about 4 minutes long and quotes Ding Dong Merrily on High. In December of 2007, Glories Ring was broadcast nationally on PBS television, National Public Radio, and a live performance was simulcast in 190 theaters throughout the United States. It is one of Amundson's most performed works. His first orchestral work with handbells, Joyous Noel, has also been very popular with orchestras nationwide.
This composition is also available in a wonderful arrangement for orchestra alone.

"Finding Glories Ring and Joyous Noel for handbells and orchestra was like striking a gold mine. These original compositions were challenging to work on and perform. We played with a top-notch orchestra, so we really wanted pieces that would be great for the orchestra as well as for the handbells. These two pieces were perfect. This was the first time that the symphony had handbells in their annual Christmas concert, so we were excited and honored. Being able to play Amundson's pieces was a highlight of the concert."
